Heatwave Conditions in October

Posted on November 4, 2013 at 10:45 PM

Heatwave, drought and wind here at Ozfarmyard in October.  Very little grass left in paddocks so we're handfeeding everyone.  During this heatwave we've been lucky enough to be donated fruit&veg cut up in bitesize pieces. We froze these to make tasty iceblocks for all the critters to eat on the heatwave days. Here's Jennie sucking on one

1st Egg of the Season

Posted on August 10, 2013 at 7:35 PM

Jay Goose (a new resident) is the proud layer of  The 1st Egg of The Season. She arrived recently at Ozfarmyard due to her injuries from a dog attack.  Jay & her small family had been dumped at a park with a small pond.  They had been pet geese & their owner didn't want them anymore so they were dumped & had to fend for themselves. Domesticated Geese don't really have any defences & in the end always fall victim to dog, fox or human attack.  It is never a good idea to leave your geese at a park or waterway, always contact your local animal rescue for advise!

Lucky for Jay a Good Samaritan jogger got the dog off her and took her to the Vet.  Since then www.savegeese.com rescued the rest of her family.  After her hospitalisation Jay has come to Ozfarmyard to convalesce. She is a lovely goose & it's a beautiful egg, don't you agree?

A big thankyou to one of our best supporters who just donated a huge amount of pumpkins.  They are a great food supplement for all the animals & they all love to eat them. With feed bills extremely high these donations really help
